After a looong day at work and a bicycle ride in the freezing cold darkness I came home to find this...
Neatly wrapped..
..in red silk paper... Ruby slippers!!!
-with pom poms!!!!
They match my favorite red, frilly Christmas nightgown
..and I might wear my new glittery golden brooch with that...
Ahhh, Christmas bliss...

Happy Holidays!!!!
I'm spending Christmas at my parents house and yesterday the weather was amazing so I went for a walk in the forest right next to their house...
It was so beautiful I must have taken a hundred photos -I'll share a few with you...
Today there is a massive snowstorm... Many thousands of people will not be able to travel and spend Christmas with their family and loved ones. I'm hoping my husband will be able join us today and that my husband and I can come back home tomorrow... That's the prize you pay for having a white Christmas I guess...
I wish you all a very merry Christmas!

Happy Birthday Betty!!!
Today is Betty Grables birthday... She would have been 94.
Here she is looking like Christmas morning (I know I said the same thing last year -it's now officially a tradition..)
I'll celebrate her by wearing some gold tinsel and doing the shimmy..

I miss you Krispy Kremes
It is impossible to find a decent doughnut in Denmark.. We don't have any doughnut shops or chains, the only place you find doughnuts are at SevenEleven and the bakers and they are nothing like my favorites from Krispy Kremes! I've had Halloween specials and Valentine specials but never any Christmas specials... -Look what I'm missing out on! I'm drooling....
Oh Christmas tree......
Here it is! Our Christmas tree! -It's been up since late November... We bought it in Las Vegas a little over a year ago and I love it! I wanted to buy a real tree as well since we have the space for it now but a decent size tree costs about $90 so the white plastic will have to do this year...

Christmas gifts..
As I told you in an earlier post, my mother-in-law Hanne gave me some pretty special gifts for Christmas.
She gave me tree bags..
One that belonged to a dear friend of her mother...
This gorgeus brown alligator/crocodile one.. (I have the perfect shoes to match -brown velvet and croc. with fringes...)

This little satin beaded darling that belonged to her grandmother.. (She wanted to give me this for my wedding but we got married in Vegas without anyone knowing... She was a bit dissapointed..)
Again I have the shoes to match (-a pair of 40's satin platforms probably wedding shoes looks like they've only been worn once great condition and original box...)
And my favorite that also belonged to her grandmother..
A grey lizard with head and eyes!

I have no shoes to match this darling but I use it anyway!
She also gave me some jewellery that belonged to her grandmother..
Pearls, faux off course, 6 rows with matching clip-ons (also ment as a wedding gift...)

Cherry amber and silver brooch which is probably my favorite..

Navy, white and yellow plastic clip-ons from the 50's 60's

She also gave me some hankerchiefs and a darling 30's 40's silk blouse that also belonged to her grandmother.
I will post pictures of it later on I simply have to make a new skirt that can do this gem justice.
She has always told me that I have the same taste in clothes, jewelry and lingerie as her grandmother . She always laughs when she comes to visit and my frilly, lace, pastel peignoirs and nightgowns are scattered all over our bedroom "Just like grandma'" she says..
She told me she is so happy to pass these wonderful items on to someone who truly appreciates them I feel some honored... I intent to take great care of these heirloms and hopefully pass them along to someone down the line...
Nothing's better than vintage with a history.

Happy New Year....

Happy New Year to all my dear readers and a special welcome to the newcomers I'm always happy to see new faces!
Hope you all had a Merry Christmas! I'm sorry for the lack of post lately I've been taking a break from the computer to dedicate my time to the family holidays.
My Christmas was bittersweet...
We went to spend some of the holidays at my parents house, they live in a small town in the countryside. There was snow everywhere! It was so beautiful! -and the snow continued to fall as we walked through the woods to go sleighriding and we picked out our Christmas tree and pulled it all the way back on our sleigh, we visited my grandparents house with homemade Christmas cake and I gave them a dvd with their old 8mm films on it. It was everything the holidays should be and more but sadly some serious family problems aired I'm not even sure what is going to happen so I'll get back to it when I know more...
Luckily my husband and I had the chance to spend a few days in the summerhouse just the two of us, a fireplace, tons of food, music and love...
Not to mention the presents! Where do I begin... Perfume, books, Iphone;) and some very special vintage clothes, jewellery and bags from my mother in law that belonged to her grandmothers, I was in awe... I must take some pictures of them, you have to see this!
Anyway, this morning I felt the winterblues grabbing a hold of me -not uncommen in this part of the world where the days are so dark and cold, but I refuse to let it get to me and since I was given so many beautiful things for Christmas I want to pass it on (not literally the things I was given...) so I've decided to make my first give-away! I actually wasn't going to do it before I had at least 50 followers but I can't wait. I'll have it ready later this week so stay tuned....
..and I've received an award.. Thank you so much Stefanie! I'll get back to that aswell...

Santa Baby...

Two years ago my husband and I started up a small business. Right after we opened our shop the economic crisis hit and we've had to turn every penny ever since. The vacation we went on in October we saved up for for two years and therefore we've spend hardly nothing on each other and ourselves (my birthday present from my husband was a note (not a card..) saying how much he loves me and that some day when we could afford it he would buy me an Iphone.. I was quite disappointed.. and I still haven't got an Iphone -not sure I even want it anymore...)
Our dream of a bigger appartment, or even better, a house, is put on hold and my husband had to take two extra jobs so I can tend our shop, still the money is scarse but we have a dream and we'll stick to it untill it seems too unrealistic.
Christmas is always very expensive for us -the majority of our close family -my father, my mother, my mother in law, my daughter, my sister and my husband all have birthdays in November, December and January.. and we have to travel to visit them all.
Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining, we love each other, we're healhty, we don't go to bed hungry and we do have a roof over our head eventhough it's a very small roof (we only have two bedrooms one for us and one for my daughter, so no livingroom, office etc. -just two small rooms, a kitchen and a tiny toilet with a showerhead...)
I do realize this post seems a bit spoiled-minx-complaning-ish but I do miss going out and buying stuff for myself... (and today I just have such an urge to buy myself a tiny new Christmas hat even though I probably need a pair of warm winterboots more, guess I'll have to come up with the money somehow -maybe it can be the birthday present I never got?) I guess when you're a vintage collector of any kind you're used to going out hunting and hopefully do great bargains and therefore you don't feel that you're spending as much money as some people do on designer shoes, clothes and such. I know I spend far less than my non-vintage girlfriends -far less!
Anyway my wishlist has just grown and grown over the past two years to a ridiculus lenght... I guess it's a sort of escapism... ;)
So please..
Santa baby, just slip a sable under the tree, for me
Been an awful good girl
Santa baby so hurry down the chimney tonight
Santa baby, a '54 convertible too, light blue,
I'll wait up for you dear
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight
Think of all the fun I've missed,
Think of all the fellows that I haven't kissed
Next year I could be just as good
If you check off my christmas list
Santa baby, I want a yacht and really thats not a lot
Been an angel all year
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight
Santa honey, one little thing I really need, the deed
To a platinum mine,
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight
Santa cutie, and fill my stocking with a duplex and cheques,
Sign your x on the line
Santa cutie, and hurry down the chimney tonight
Come and trim my chirstmas tree,
With some decorations bought at Tiffany's
I really do believe in you,
Let's see if you believe in me
Santa baby, forgot to mention one little thing, a ring,
I don't mean on the phone ,
Santa baby, so hurry down the chimney tonight
Hurry down the chimney tonight
Hurry, tonight.
