What dreams are made of...

Just found this fabulous website: www.thefrock.com.
They have beautiful (and expensive!) vintage clothing from nearly every fashion decade including celebrity wardrobes and designer couture.
If I only had the money I would buy everything!!!

Who wouldn't want to own this gorgeus mink cape that belonged to Marlene Dietrich?!

-or this charmeuse wrapper from the 1930's owned and worn by Joan Crawford...

This beautiful red gown was Lucille Balls... I'm afraid it's reserved...

This ivory white beauty with bows...

Dreamy Dior!!!

The list goes on and on and on....
-At least dreams are free...

The missing photo....

I have a regret regarding my wedding -not my marriage or my husband just the wedding! Actually I have a few but I'll rather have a great marriage and a lousy wedding than the other way around, right?

We got married excatly a year and a half ago today at 'The Little White Wedding Chapel' in Vegas at the drive thru window. There were only the two of us, nothing fancy, no flowers, no rings, no photos, only love... (my old, borrowed and blue was my father-in-laws old, blue car..)

I'm hoping we'll have a proper wedding party someday for our friends and family -with a beautiful dress for me, a huge cake, rings for the both of us and a great wedding photo off course! I really miss not having a picture to look at and reminiscence...
So I've developed an obsession with other peoples wedding photos, I will post my grandparents wedding photos later on, they're a dream! In the mean time here are some of my favorite celebrities getting married.... and like most of them maybe I'll have more than one wedding -hopefully with the same man though...

My favorite -Betty Grable... Beautiful hair..

Betty again... (actually I think this was before the above..)

Sally Rand

Elizabeth Taylor

Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton

Taylor and Burton again...

..and again (same wedding though..)

Norma Jean... Love the hat/veil!

Marilyn Monroe

Dolly Parton

Elvis and Priscilla (..hope we can top that cake;)

I still love Kittens!!

Another of my old posts again...sorry.. I promise I will post something new and exciting soon!
Just thought this was relevant since I'm getting that tattoo I was writing about in a few weeks and all the inspiration helped...
I will post photos of the tattoo as soon as it's mine...
(Hope I will be able to get a real kitten too someday...)

I'm getting a new tattoo..
-and I really want a kitten in some sort of outfit 'cause I love dressed-up animals ...not in real life though only in pictures...
These are a great inspiration..
But which one will it be?....

Riding kitten?

Smoking cool cat?

Mommy cat?

Circus cat?

Little girl kitten? -with Lily-of-the-valley.. one of the most beautiful flowers in the whole world.

The Pixi-book above was one of my favorites... about a kitten who skips school and goes fishing!

Paper dolls

My mother gave me these paperdolls this weekend when we visited a museum.
There are reproductions but beautiful none the less...

I feel so inspired by the outfits I just want everyone of them! Hope I can copy some to make them fit me...

They're made by Gerda Vinding a Danish illustrator who made a ton of these dolls including a very famous one from the 50's called 'Marie' (actually 'Store Marie' (Big Marie)) it was made to promote a biscuit -later came 'Lille Marie' (Little Marie) and 'Sorte Marie' (Black Marie) all representing different types of biscuits. They came in the box when you bought the biscuits and there were about 500 dresses to collect!

Gerda won a 2. price in a big paperdoll contest in Los Angeles in 1991 for one of her 'Bridal' dolls.
Sad to say I don't know much more about her but I'll try to research...

The Incomparable Sally Rand (again...)

Since I'm super busy these days (-and in pain right now since I just got back from a nightmare at the dentist office, I've never had any problems with my teeth but needed a wisdom-tooth pulled out... The tooth had three roots all bend as a hook... the dentist never saw anything like it... which resulted in the tooth being pulled out in three pieces and a small piece of my jawbone came with it!!) I decided to post some of my old post from the Circus Circus blog.... first up Sally Rand, more to come... Enjoy!

Sally Rand was a burlesque dancer and actress most famous for her ostrich feather fan dance and balloon bubble dance.
She ran away with a carnival as a teenager, and later pursued such career opportunities as night club cigarette girl, artist's model, and cafe dancer.

She was born Harriet Helen Gould Beck and she also performed under the name Billie Beck.

During the 1920s, Sally acted on stage and appeared in silent movies. Cecil B. DeMille gave her the name Sally Rand, inspired by a Rand Mcnally atlas.

Full body makeup...

I have this card at home...

...autographed by Miss Sally herself!!!

Sally in Tex Avery's 'Hollywood steps out'. Apparently she's wearing a barrel behind the bubble.

Her most famous appearance was at the 1933 Chicago World's Fair. She had been arrested four times in a single day during the fair due to perceived indecent exposure while riding a white horse down the streets of Chicago, but the nudity was only an illusion... She was wearing a full body suit.

In 1936, she purchased The Music Box burlesque hall in San Francisco, which would later become the Great American Music Hall.

She starred in "Sally Rand's Nude Ranch" at the Golden Gate International Exposition in San Francisco in 1939 and 1940.

Sally continued to appear on stage doing her fan dance into her sixties. She died in 1979 aged 75.
